Concert Review : Coldplay
I went to see Coldplay in Manchester. Not only was the music amazing, but so was everything else: the atmosphere, the lighting, the staging, that audience. Everything!
Chris Martin masterfully interacted with the audience, like he was a conductor, and everyone was enthralled the entire time. Other than the music, the best part of the show for me was the wrist bands that lit up with the music. When lit, the wrist bands, created magical dancing lights in waves that was bewildering to watch.
As well as being an amazing concert, there were also measures taken to be conscious of the environment. For instance, they had 2 move pads: 2, 5 meters across circles, that when danced upon, generated power for the concert. In fact, Coldplay pledged to make their most recent tour than 50% more sustainable than their previous concert. A win for the planet!
The artistic process and music are closely connected, often feeding into each other in powerful ways. Just like creating a piece of art, music can set a mood, spark inspiration, or guide the flow of creativity. Whether it be music playing whilst you’re creating, or the sound of your own breath as it goes in and out in a rhythm, music and noise surrounds us constantly. Some artists use music to get into a certain emotional space or rhythm while they work, letting the sound influence their brushstrokes, colour choices, or the energy of a piece. The layers, patterns, and movement in music can mirror the way an artwork comes together—step by step, with feeling and instinct. Whether it’s the beat of a song shaping the vibe of a painting or lyrics sparking a visual idea, music and art often go hand-in-hand in the creative process.

Going to this concert, really made me take in the beauty of music and the impact it can have on people, and someday I really want to explore this in my practice in combination with my main ideas of ‘Embracing the magic of childhood’. I could not recommend higher a concert to watch, just for the atmosphere and audience alone. Amazing.
