Visiting Truro Cathedral

My family and I, every year, take a trip down to Cornwall and we love it there. This time when we went, we stopped by the beautiful city of Truro. Gorgeous.

The main highlight was the beautiful architecture, seen throughout the city, but pales in comparison to the beauty of the Cathedral. I am not a religious person, but I found such beauty in the building.

Designed by John Loughborough Pearson, this Gothic Cathedral was built between 1880 and 1910.

I have always had an interest in architecture, at one point in college I wanted to do Architectural technology for my degree but eventually decided against it when I found a passion for wanting to go into teaching instead.

Truro Cathedral feels like a spiritual and architectural bridge between the medieval past and the modern industrial age. It’s deeply rooted in traditional Gothic architecture but built with the precision and resources of the Victorian era. It’s a great example of how Gothic Revival could be both reverent and innovative.

Cornwall as a whole is a beautiful place, but especially Truro. I highly recommend visiting if you can! Cornwall is also home to a lot of small galleries up and down the coast in sea-side villages and town, which I also recommend visiting a few to try and expand your knowledge about some smaller artists.
